What's Your Dream?

Source:  Biography.com

Today we celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.: pastor, civil rights activist, humanitarian and perhaps most importantly LEADER.  Said to have been inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s Satya Agraha, or as it’s loosely translated, clinging to truth, a concept that seeks NOT to destroy the relationship with the oppressor but to transform it instead, Dr. King employed a non-violent approach to civil disobedience. As a result, he became the greatest advocate against racial injustice that our country has ever known.

Having accomplished more during his short time as Civil Rights activist, including becoming the youngest person to win the Nobel Peace Prize, than perhaps anybody else before him, it is safe to say that many-an-entrepreneur can learn a thing or two from the philosophies of Dr King.

To accomplish big things, you must dare to dream big and Dr. King taught us that no dream is out of reach. Below are some valuable MLK quotes you may want to keep in mind, as you too may have a dream...

  • “Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase”
  • "A genuine leader is not a searcher for consensus but a molder of consensus."
  • "All labor that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance and should be undertaken with painstaking excellence."
  • “We must use time creatively.”
  • "The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically."
  • "Never succumb to the temptation of bitterness."
  • “Whatever your life's work is, do it well. A man should do his job so well that the living, the dead, and the unborn could do it no better.”
